Chula Engineering and CSII Team Wins Gold Medal and Three Special Awards at the World Genius Convention & Education Expo 2026 in Japan🏅👏🏻

Faculty members and students from the Department of Industrial Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, together with the Chulalongkorn School of Integrated Innovation (CSII), earned international recognition for their innovation, the “AI-Powered Dashboard for Earthquake Communication Insights during the Response Phase.” The project received one Gold Award and three Special Awards at the World Genius Convention & Education Expo 2026 (WGC 2026), held on 7–8 May 2026 in Tokyo, Japan.

Awards received include

• Gold Award – World Genius Convention & Education Expo 2026, Japan
• Canadian Special Award of Excellence – Innovation Initiative Co‑operative Inc. “The Inventors Circle,” Canada
• Special Award – International Invention & Innovation Institute (IIII), Japan
• OFEED Special Award – Morocco

The AI-powered dashboard aims to enhance disaster response data management, particularly during earthquake events. By applying artificial intelligence, the system analyzes real-time public communication data and presents insights through an intuitive dashboard.

The system collects, processes, and visualizes information from social media and digital platforms, enabling authorities to detect emerging trends, public concerns, and community needs following a disaster. This supports more effective situational monitoring and response planning.

The project is funded by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) and builds upon data from Traffy Fondue, a city-issue reporting platform developed by the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), with support from the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) for data collection in earthquake-related disaster contexts.

The research team aims to continue advancing AI technologies to strengthen disaster management capabilities and support more resilient and informed emergency response systems.
