Philosophy of the Program
The program aims to produce doctoral graduates who are leaders in industrial engineering research and are capable of creating and disseminating new knowledge that benefits society.
Significance of the Program
The Doctor of Philosophy Program in Industrial Engineering is committed to maintaining international standards in both curriculum quality and graduate competency. The program defines the expected characteristics and learning outcomes of its graduates in alignment with international standards for doctoral-level industrial engineers.
The program emphasizes systematic learning and research. Students are equipped with the ability to identify and analyze problems and apply fundamental knowledge to solve complex engineering challenges.
Graduates are expected to communicate and present their ideas and solutions effectively in both Thai and English, demonstrate professional ethics, work independently, and collaborate effectively in culturally diverse teams.
The program also aims to develop researchers who can conduct high-quality research, create new knowledge in industrial engineering, and disseminate findings that benefit society. Graduates are expected to become experts who contribute to economic and industrial development at both national and international levels.
Program Objectives
1. To produce doctoral graduates who are capable of identifying and analyzing problems and applying fundamental knowledge to solve complex engineering problems.
2. To promote continuous research productivity, the creation of new knowledge, and the dissemination of industrial engineering knowledge, while encouraging research collaboration and knowledge exchange at both national and international levels.
Applicant Qualifications
Applicants must hold a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering or a related discipline, with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50 on a 4.00 scale or an equivalent academic standard.
The applicant’s master’s thesis must have received a rating of “Good,” “Very Good,” or an equivalent evaluation.
Additional qualifications shall be in accordance with the annual admission announcement issued by the Graduate School or as determined appropriate by the Program Management Committee.

Admission Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements.
English-Language Proficiency
Applicants must obtain at least one of the following minimum English-language proficiency scores:
Test Minimum Score
CU-TEP = 45
TOEFL = 450
IELTS = 4.0
Academic Qualifications
Applicants must hold a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering or a related discipline, such as a Master of Science degree in an area relevant to Industrial Engineering.
Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50 on a 4.00 scale or an equivalent academic standard.
The applicant’s master’s thesis must have received a rating of “Good,” “Very Good,” or an equivalent evaluation.
Program Approval
Admission is subject to approval by the Program Management Committee.
Application Procedure
1. Visit the Graduate School website, select the Admissions menu, and review the application procedures and requirements specified by the Graduate School.
2. Complete the online application and prepare the required supporting documents in accordance with the Graduate School’s instructions.
3. Complete the application form specifically required by the Department of Industrial Engineering and submit all supporting documents, including two letters of recommendation from academic advisors, supervisors, or other qualified referees.
4. Before submitting the application, applicants should prepare a preliminary dissertation topic or research idea and consult a prospective dissertation advisor. The preliminary research topic should be included in the application.
5. Applicants who are in the final semester of their current degree program must submit official evidence of graduation by the first day of registration.
6. Admission remains conditional upon the applicant successfully completing the required degree and meeting the specified grade point average requirement.

• Round 1: February–March
• Round 2: April–May
Applicants should consult the Graduate School website for the official admission schedule and the applicable deadlines for each academic year.
English-Language Testing
Applicants who do not yet have an English-language proficiency score may obtain information about the CU-TEP examination and other available English-language tests from the Chulalongkorn University Academic Testing Center.
CU-TEP or other accepted English-language proficiency test scores must be submitted to the Department of Industrial Engineering by May, before the admission interview.
Applicants who fail to submit an accepted English-language proficiency score will not be eligible for admission.

Announcements will be published through the Graduate School website and may also be communicated through the Department of Industrial Engineering.
