abstract = {The objective of this research is to predict the in-process straightness of aluminum (Al 6063) and carbon steel (S45C) by monitoring the in-process cutting forces during CNC turning. The Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) is adopted to prove the relation between cutting force and straightness in frequency domain, which appear the same frequency. The cutting force ratio is proposed and normalized to predict the in-process straightness regardless of the cutting conditions. Firstly, the straightness is calculated by employing the two-layer feed-forward neural networks. The Levenberg-Marquardt backpropagation algorithm is utilized to train the system. Secondly, the multiple regression analysis has been applied to model the in-process prediction of straightness and the cutting force ratio under various cutting conditions with the use of least square method at 95% confidence level. Finally, the experimentally obtained results from the neural networks are compared with the ones obtained from the developed straightness model. It had been proved that the in-process straightness can be well predicted under various cutting conditions by using the trained neural networks. © 2020 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd. abstract = {Windsurf manufacturing and inspection process have high influence for product quality. Recently windsurf manufacturer faced high nonconformity cost with delaminate problem. Current inspection process is performed by inspector skill which depends on the experience. The inspection method is proposed by using sound sensor and applying the Fast Fourier Transform to monitor the ranges of laminate and delaminate frequency. The pattern recognition technique is purposed to classify noise frequency in order to identify the laminate windsurf from the delaminate ones. This research investigates the delaminate among the polyvinyl chloride sheet, the biaxial carbon reinforced fabric and the fiber glass reinforced fabric. The area of laminate frequency in frequency domain shows the laminate point has high power spectrum density than the one from the delaminate point. The algorithm to detect the delaminate has been developed and proved by real windsurf. It's proved that the method proposed can be identified the delaminate windsurf. © 2020 IOP Publishing Ltd. abstract = {The prototype kit for portable drug allergy testing is proposed and developed for easy-to-use in provincial hospitals where the standard equipment for in vitro drug allergy diagnosis is still lacking. The Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Spot (ELISpot) technique is adopted for this purpose due to its high sensitivity and specificity to detect cytokine-releasing cells, which is precise and suitable for non-instantaneously allergic tests. A developed prototype for drug allergy testing has been considered in various aspects of the three main designs, comprising of the proposed testing procedure kit, the heat generating system to control temperature, and the prototype structure. All parts and prototype kits are modeled by using 3D printing technology. The electrical circuit system developed and employed in the prototype kit could generate the heat to control the required temperature between 36.5 °C and 37.5 °C, which is the optimum temperature for cull culture. Compared to the standard equipment, our portable prototype kit yielded good diagnostic values (80% sensitivity, 100% specificity, and 90% accuracy), which are satisfactory and acceptable as a practical tool to identify the culprit drugs. © 2020 The Authors. abstract = {The turning Process is the main processes used in automotive parts from more productivity, it requires the cutting velocity and feed rate high. And from those cutting, it causes high temperatures on cutting and a tool life of cutting tools decreased. Therefore using of cutting fluid (Coolant) is one of the commonly used methods to reduce temperatures that occur while cutting, reducing the wear of cutting tool and helps extend the tool life of the cutting tool. However, cutting fluid it's not always a good way, from the high cost and environmental problems issues. Using the MQL technique is one of the alternatives that using more nowadays to solve the above mentioned problems. This research proposed a MQL technique substitution of cutting fluid that using in the current process by applying in order to obtain the proper cutting condition for carbon steel material grade SAPH370 with the carbide cutting tool. The cutting conditions will acceptable from the minimum quantity of lubricant and the maximum of tool life of cutting tool under surface roughness (Ra) is less than 1.2 µm. The proper cutting condition determined at a feed rate of 0.10 mm/rev, a cutting speed of 300 m/min and a flow rate of 5ml/hr. © 2019 Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.},

abstract = {Purpose: After knee replacement surgery, rehabilitation is needed to recover to normal levels of mobility. A continuous passive motion (CPM) machine is usually introduced at this stage to aid rehabilitation. However, the redundant structure and complex mechanism of the existing machine has resulted in irregular use. The purpose of this paper is to redesign the current machine. Design/methodology/approach: The mechanical and electrical systems of the current machine were studied alongside interviews with stakeholders. Problems with the existing machine were identified. Related information was gathered in both the engineering and medical aspects. The redesign concept of the equipment was specified following engineering analyses to develop the final model. Finite element analysis was performed to ensure the appropriate size and dimension of the equipment. The prototype of the redesigned CPM was manufactured in-house. Product testing was conducted with 40 volunteers including experienced therapists, nurses, university students and working-age people. Findings: Compared to the previous machine, the newly designed model was improved in both functioning and manufacturing costs. The redesigned machine is more durable and consists of a less complex structure. Originality/value: The redesigned machine introduces some new features and removes unnecessary functions. As a result, the model costs less and hence, is considered beneficial to the general public. More utilization is expected which could eventually reduce the therapists’ workload at the hospital. This research provides well-defined processes of the product development starting from the users’ requirement analysis to the prototype testing stage. © 2019, Somkiat Tangjitsitcharoen and Haruetai Lohasiriwat.},

abstract = {As the turning process is one of the most necessary process. The surface roughness has been considered for the quality of workpiece. There are many factors which affect the surface roughness. Hence, the objective of this research is to monitor the relation between the surface roughness and the cutting forces in aluminium turning process with a wide range of cutting conditions. The coated carbide tool and aluminium alloy (Al 6063) are used for this experiment. The cutting parameters are investigated to analyze the effects of them on the surface roughness which are the cutting speed, the feed rate, the tool nose radius and the depth of cut. In the case of this research, the dynamometer is installed in the turret of CNC turning machine to generate a signal while turning. The relation between dynamic cutting forces and the surface roughness profile is examined by applying the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). The experimentally obtained results showed that the cutting force depends on the cutting condition. The surface roughness can be improved when increasing the cutting speed and the tool nose radius in contrast to the feed rate and the depth of cut. The relation between the cutting parameters and the surface roughness can be explained by the in-process cutting forces. It is understood that the in-process cutting forces are able to predict the surface roughness in the further research. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.},

It also describes relation of tool wear and dynamic cutting force ratio. The results of experiment show that cutting speed is the most significantly influential factor followed by feed rate, depth of cut and nose radius respectively. abstract = {This paper describes a development of in-process prediction of roundness from the previous research of the author in CNC turning process. The relations of roundness, dynamic cutting forces, and cutting conditions have been investigated. In order to eliminate the effects of the cutting conditions, the dynamic cutting forces are dimensionless by taking the ratio of the average variations of dynamic radial force to that of the dynamic feed force. The exponential function is employed for the sake to model the in-process prediction of roundness which consists of cutting speeds, feed rates, depths of cut, tool nose radiuses, rake angles, and dynamic cutting force ratio. The experimentally obtained results showed that the better roundness errors can be obtained by increasing the cutting speed, the tool nose radius, and the rake angle. The new cutting tests have been conducted to verify the obtained model. It is understood that the in-process roundness can be predicted well during cutting with the high accuracy by using the proposed method. © 2017, Springer-Verlag London Ltd.},
