The discussion and future work section enables further work on developing usable and safe informational text displays on the in-vehicle interface and other short glance reading engagements. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd

Close

https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-85192170808&doi=10.1016%[…]

doi:10.1016/j.trf.2024.04.025

Close

2023

Chanatip Thongdonnoi, Parames Chutima, Arisara Jiamsanguanwong, Oran Kittithreerapronchai, Manida Swangnetr Neubert

Application of Collaborative Robots for Increasing Productivity in an Eyeglasses Lenses Manufacturer Journal Article

In: Engineering Journal, vol. 27, no. 10, pp. 93 – 112, 2023, ISSN: 01258281, (Cited by: 2; All Open Access, Gold Open Access, Green Open Access).

Abstract | Links | BibTeX

@article{Thongdonnoi202393,
title = {Application of Collaborative Robots for Increasing Productivity in an Eyeglasses Lenses Manufacturer},
author = {Chanatip Thongdonnoi and Parames Chutima and Arisara Jiamsanguanwong and Oran Kittithreerapronchai and Manida Swangnetr Neubert},
url = {https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-85176564994&doi=10.4186%2fej.2023.27.10.93&partnerID=40&md5=1468211c0a610031cb1d733f3ae0e50e},
doi = {10.4186/ej.2023.27.10.93},
issn = {01258281},
year = {2023},
date = {2023-01-01},
journal = {Engineering Journal},
volume = {27},
number = {10},
pages = {93 – 112},
publisher = {Chulalongkorn University, Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts},
abstract = {This research focuses on a framework for making decisions when adopting collaborative robots (cobots) to collaborate with or replace human workers. Then, experience and operational issues were defined through experience ratings at each touchpoint, patient interviews, and root cause analysis. The solution was identified via brainstorming and prototyping. A prescription tracking system was proposed with a finish time estimation algorithm. Results: The overall satisfaction score at the dispensary station, comparing before-after system implementation in 2019, was increased 37% from the average score of 3.27 to 4.47 using 5-point Likert scales. The mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) of the waiting time estimation model that included the buffer time (upper bound at 95%) is 52%. Conclusion: This methodology, which included both patient experience and operational improvement viewpoints, could successfully improve both the patient experience and the related operation system at its critical touchpoints. As a result, the applications increased the efficiency of medicine delivery and users’ satisfaction level. © 2020 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

Close

https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-85078884466&doi=10.1080%[…]

doi:10.1080/20479700.2020.1723945

Close

Apiwat Thongprasert, Arisara Jiamsanguanwong

New product development processes for iot-enabled home use medical devices: A systematic review Journal Article

In: Engineering Journal, vol. 25, no. 2, pp. 15 – 48, 2021, ISSN: 01258281, (Cited by: 10; All Open Access, Green Open Access).

Abstract | Links | BibTeX

@article{Thongprasert202115,
title = {New product development processes for iot-enabled home use medical devices: A systematic review},
author = {Apiwat Thongprasert and Arisara Jiamsanguanwong},
url = {https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-85102682432&doi=10.4186%2fej.2021.25.2.15&partnerID=40&md5=d34afecaa27949c84d261d3fe6e37e49},
doi = {10.4186/ej.2021.25.2.15},
issn = {01258281},
year = {2021},
date = {2021-01-01},
journal = {Engineering Journal},
volume = {25},
number = {2},
pages = {15 – 48},
publisher = {Chulalongkorn University, Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts},
abstract = {Background: In the new forefront of healthcare at patients’ homes, medical devices developed to use at home setting by lay users are essential. The adoption of home-use medical devices will benefit both patients and public healthcare services in terms of quality of life, enhanced outcomes, and reduced cost of care. Home use medical devices associated with Internet-Of-Things (IOT) technology assists patients in performing self-care as well as providing health information remotely to health care professionals. However, adopting technology requires understanding the nature of the medical device and medical device development (MDD). Existing studies concerning the new product development (NPD) processes or design processes were systematically reviewed to explore knowledge and expertise to provide a framework for IOT engineers or designers to adopt IOT technology to home use medical devices. Objective: This study aimed to review the published literature to explore the current studies in the field of the NPD process, design process, design methodology, and outcome of the device affecting user acceptance. Methods: A systematic review following PRISMA guidelines of the English language literature from four electronic databases and academic search engines published from 2007 to 2018 was conducted. The papers were screened and assessed following predefined inclusive and exclusive criteria. The results were analyzed according to the research questions. Results: The findings revealed state-of-the-art in the NPD process and design process (n=4), the design methodology (n=23), and the resultant outcomes of empirical or clinical research in the validation stage (n=14) of medical device development (MDD). The findings also delineated existing studies in NPD, design process, and design methodologies aimed to ensure that medical devices would be effective and safe. Human factor engineering (HFE), cognitive method, ethnographic, and other methodologies were proposed to understand users, uses and context of use. Barriers, constraints, and multidisciplinary communication were addressed. Tools, processes, and methodologies were proposed to overcome the barriers. Conclusion: As home-use medical device development (MDD) and the adoption of IOT technology is now at a crossroads. This study addresses the necessity for future academic studies related to IOT adoption to MDD, including unique risks, multidisciplinary problems, emerging from IOT technology. Finally, future studies aimed at fabricating the NPD process or design process for IOT home-use medical devices to gain user acceptance were outlined. © 2021, Chulalongkorn University, Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts. While majority of researches in this area have been focusing on the development of the training materials despite a concern of human factor as their cognitive strategy for solving spatial problems. Thus, the purpose of this study is to investigate the differences of individual spatial strategy on their spatial solving performance. Two-hundred-eighty-seven first-year Thai engineering student participated in this study.
