Industrial Engineering faculty member has been invited to be a panelist at IEEE R10 HTC 2025, Japan

Assoc. Prof. Natt Leelawat, D.Eng., has been invited to serve as a panelist at the Special Session of the IEEE Region 10 Humanitarian Technology Conference (HTC) 2025, at Chiba University of Commerce, Japan.

The special session, titled “Recent Disasters: Lessons, Response, and the Role of Technology,” took place on September 30th, 2025, from 15:15 to 17:45 JST, and was facilitated by Prof. Takako Hashimoto, IEEE R10 Director. The panelists include

  • Manabu Ichikawa, Shibaura Institute of Technology, Japan

This high-impact session explored how recent disasters have shaped global response strategies, the evolving role of technology in humanitarian efforts, and the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration. The inclusion of Chula Engineering scholars reflects the university’s growing leadership in disaster resilience, risk communication, and sustainable development across Asia and beyond.

Assoc. Prof. Natt Leelawat, D.Eng., Head of the Center of Excellence in Disaster and Risk Management Information Systems, Assistant Dean for International Affairs, and Associate Professor of the Department of Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, brings experience in bridging academic research with real-world issues on the impact of the 2025 Myanmar Earthquake on Thailand.
